UV BEATZ RECORDINGS PRESENTS - OOR WARDIE
REVIEW BY BOYDY

After months of waiting OOR WARDIE is here. Leith boys UV Beatz and Wardie Burns team up for 20 tracks of Scottish hip hop madness.

The duo signed to Scottish hip hop legend Steg G’s label Powercut Productions and this is there first release under Powercut.

The Album is available for £7 with a special promotion where you get another Powercut release free with OOR WARDIE. I received mine just a day after I placed the order so don’t expect a long wait before it turns up at your door. The album is well produced with UV Beatz making all the beats and recording the tracks at the infamous UV Beatz Lab. The album also has features from critically acclaimed Edinburgh rapper Madhat Mcgore of Music Comes First Records and The Agents lead singer Becca Star.

I was expecting this album to be of a high standard, and in my view it is. Have to admit when I first put it in my cd player I skimmed through the tracks quickly and never really took much in, I recognised a few of the tracks which were put out several months ago I.e. Burgh Boy and Ghost-train and I liked these tracks a lot when I first listened to them. After further analysis I grow quite fond of the album finding myself being able to relate to Wardie on a number of tracks I also found his screwball humour that comes out in his tracks quite funny. Wardie finds a nice blend of witty punch-lines mixed with psychopathic thoughts of violence, murder and a healthy dose of modern day reality that we all face in our own life on a day to day basis

Wardie has definelty stepped his game up a notch since his swine flu mixtape which was itself a very good effort and a Scottish underground favourite.

Only negative points I would like to point out are, this album is good if your life is similar to Wardie and for a lot of people reading this it will be no doubt. It may lack appeal to a wider audience due to the controversial lyrics, references to killing people and toilet humour. Some people may find it rather offensive, maybe even downright disgusting, but who cares about them? Aye no cunt, fuck them! LOL

Tracks that stood out for me were

Life that I lead
Stuck in the scene
Hung over
Ghost Train

Anyways I would advise anybody to get a copy of this album, its officially out now!

P.s I do no longer wish to review anybody’s stuff, its nothing personal and I enjoy the fact people ask me to do reviews, but I do not have enough time anymore due to other projects which I am working on at present
